HYFTF - EDITING REFLECTION

During my editing process I made some good decisions and some decisions I would change if I was going to redo my work. I have a few themes I really like throughout my work, the main of which being the use of colour throughout my film. The starting shots start as cool colours, blues, greens and purples and over time, as the film progresses towards the killing of the woman the colours shift to warm, dramatic colours such as reds and oranges. This is to raise the atmosphere and symbolise to the audience that something dangerous and sinister is occurring as the colour red is often a warning sign. The colours are then plunged back into blue when nothing sinister is occurring but the red returns the second the other woman enters the frame. Suggesting that she is a sinister character.
I also really like the way that I broke up the shots of the actual killing. This created suspense because it slowed down the situation. It also added a certain amount of mystery as not all the shots are complete and shown. Suggesting to the audience they are not seeing the whole picture.
One thing I would change about my editing is that I would have wanted to use more filler frames. This would allow the audience to understand the surrounding areas more and help the film flow more smoothly. However, as I was not in for a few days of filming I was not able to get these filler shots. In the future I will get these filler shots for later productions I will do.
